Who we are
Språkverkstaden (The Language Workshop) is a small firm run by two Norwegian language specialists – Gry Vikesland and Jan Ove Hennøy. We hold degrees in translation from the University of Agder, Kristiansand, and have studied Scandinavian languages and German at universities in Norway, Germany and Austria. We are both members of the Norwegian Non-fiction Writers and Translators Association.
What we do
Språkverkstaden has been providing translation and language services since 1997. We work in partnership with an international network of qualified professional translators, all of whom translate into their mother tongue and have extensive experience of the subject area in question. We offer quality translations to and from Norwegian, English, German, Swedish and Danish, as well as editing and proofreading services for all kinds of text.
We provide a quick and efficient service, but never compromise on the quality of the products we deliver. Our aim is to supply customers with translations that convey the message of the original text accurately and fluently in the target language. Thorough quality control procedures ensure that everything is correct – right down to the last detail.
Språkverkstaden has experience of translating both literature and non-fiction texts in fields such as computing/IT, advertising, tourism, culture, technology, finance, medicine and law.
How we work
We don't pretend to offer translations to and from every language known to Man. We leave that to other people. We prefer to focus on the languages we and our associates know best.
We don't take on projects with impossible deadlines. We need a certain amount of time in order to guarantee the quality of our product. However, once we have agreed a deadline, you can be confident that we will deliver on time.
We are not experts in gastroenterology or nuclear physics. But we and our associates are familiar with a wide range of other subjects, and we always try to find the best person for each job. Some jobs require technical expertise or an in-depth knowledge of a particular subject, while others primarily call for linguistic skill and the ability to find the right words. We have the resources – just tell us what you need.

What it costs
We don't offer cut-price translations. If that's what you're looking for, we suggest you try elsewhere. If, on the other hand, you're looking for high quality at a reasonable price, then you've come to the right place. All our translations are checked thoroughly prior to delivery. We put quality first all the way.
We agree prices and delivery dates in advance, and all work is kept strictly confidential.
